The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, signed into law on March 23, 2010, created new requirements for not-for-profit hospitals to complete a community health needs assessment (CHNA) and implementation plan every three years. These assessments and strategies ensure that hospitals have the information they need to help meet the healthcare needs of their communities.
The findings from our recent CHNA identified two key priority areas for Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia counties: healthy weight and access to care. The Infirmary Health plan to address these issues includes partnerships with local schools and other area organizations that align with our mission to make a collective impact on both healthy weight and access to care.
I am excited to announce that we will soon launch Live Better Together, formerly known as Live Better Mobile. The goal of this initiative is to provide access to evidence-based health and wellness information and resources for community leaders, city officials, not-for-profit organizations, policy makers and companies interested in improving healthy weight and access to care. The Live Better Together website launches in early fall and will feature a blog, health priorities, resources, programs, news and events.
Thank you for supporting our efforts as we work together to create a healthier quality of life for the communities we serve.
